New York City now defines gender as male, female, “or something else entirely,” according to a new edict from the Commission on Human Rights.
Mayor Bill de Blasio’s administration released a list of 31 approved genders last week, which can be used as a guide for businesses that now face up to $250,000 fines if they refuse to call a person by their preferred pronoun.
“In New York City, it’s illegal to discriminate on the basis of gender identity and gender expression in the workplace, in public spaces, and in housing,” according to the city’s gender identity and expression fact sheet. “The NYC Commission on Human Rights is committed to ensuring that transgender and gender non-conforming New Yorkers are treated with dignity and respect and without threat of discrimination or harassment.”
The city now legally defines a person’s sex as anything.
The commission defines gender identity as “One’s internal, deeply-held sense of one’s gender as male, female, or something else entirely.”
“A transgender person is someone whose gender identity does not match the sex they were assigned at birth,” the commission said.
The list of 31 genders includes “drag king,” “drag queen,” “femme queen,” “butch,” “gender fluid,” “gender gifted,” “gender bender,” “gender blender,” and “femme person of transgender experience.”
The city’s law prohibiting gender discrimination requires all New Yorkers to cater to gender non-conforming individuals by using their preferred pronouns and titles. Individuals can also use whatever bathroom or locker room they want, based on their “gender identity,” or relieve themselves in the street.
The law also means “individuals have the right to follow dress codes and grooming standards consistent with their gender identity expression,” according to the fact sheet.
The fact sheet also provides a lesson in “Courtesy 101,” and instructs New Yorkers to not “make assumptions about a transgender person’s sexual orientation.”
“If you don’t know what pronouns to use, ask,” the commission said. “Be polite and respectful; if you use the wrong pronoun, apologize and move on.”

PHILADELPHIA MAYOR BANS CITY EMPLOYEES FROM GOVERNMENT TRAVEL TO STATES WITH "DISCRIMINATORY LAWS", LIKE NC, TN, AL

PHILADELPHIA MAYOR BANS CITY EMPLOYEES FROM GOVERNMENT TRAVEL TO STATES WITH "DISCRIMINATORY LAWS"

PHILADELPHIA — The Democratic mayor of Philadelphia has banned city employees from non-essential government travel to cities and states that have passed laws that he deems as being discriminatory toward homosexuals and transsexual persons.
In April, following controversy over North Carolina’s Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act and Mississippi’s Protecting Freedom of Conscience from Government Discrimination Act, Mayor Jim Kenney was among the officials who decided to issue travel bans for government employees.
“By issuing a non-essential travel ban to those states, we take a stand against bigotry and prejudice happening in those states, and in cities and states nationwide,” he said in a press release. “I will continue to actively welcome any and all people, businesses, organizations and events who no longer feel welcome in their state because of these discriminatory laws.”
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton, Connecticut Gov. Daniel Malloy and Vermont Gov. Peter Schumlin were among those who issued bans as well.
Now, Kenney has announced bans on travel for official business to the state of Tennessee for its bill allowing counselors to opt out of counseling homosexuals over their religious convictions about the lifestyle, as well as Oxford, Alabama for its bill requiring citizens to use the restroom that correlates with their birth gender.
“I am announcing this ban in response to the enactment of legislation that infringes the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals in these jurisdictions,” Kenney said in a staetment. “I will reconsider this ban if the States of North Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee and the city of Oxford, Alabama choose to repeal their discriminatory legislation.”
Employees may travel for public health or safety reasons upon pre-approval from the Philadelphia managing director’s office.
Like Barack Obama, Kenney’s office also urged observance of the month of June as “LGBT Pride Month,” stating that it is is “an opportunity to listen to one another, to share our perspectives, to remember our history, to celebrate our individuality, to identify where our experiences overlap, and to use this information to make our communities better, stronger, and more inclusive every single day.”
The city website includes listings of various events throughout the month including the Trans Health Conference Celebration on June 10 at the Municipal Services Building, which includes a pep rally and the raising of a “trans pride flag,” and the “Philadelphia Dyke March” at Kahn Park on June 11.
Kenney has additionally been listed as a “friend of pride” by Philly Pride Presents, the organizers of the annual Philadelphia PrideFest and parade.
As previously reported, homosexuality was banned in Pennsylvania at its inception. The 1682 “Great Law” of Pennsylvania, penned by its Quaker founder William Penn, required criminal penalties for those who engage in homosexual acts.
“And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid that if any person shall be legally convicted of the unnatural sin of sodomy or joining with beasts such persons shall be whipped and forfeit one third part of his or her estate and work six months in the house of corrections at hard labor, and for the second offence imprisonment as aforesaid during life,” it read.
Kenney identifies as a Roman Catholic, but has often had a tense relationship with those in the religion.

Elementary school tells student to remove Trump hat School says no to student's Trump hat.

Fresno, Calif. A Fresno Unified student's Donald Trump hat is surrounded in controversy.

"It's my favorite hat," said third grader Logan Autry. "The First Amendment says I can wear my hat."

But his red hat, reading "Make America Great Again", has caused problems for Logan.

"They told me to take my hat off because it brings negative emotions to the other children who don't like him," said Logan.

Logan said Thursday school officials at Powers-Ginsburg Elementary School told him to take his Donald Trump hat off due to safety concerns after other students confronted him.

"They were saying they didn't like Trump, they were saying he was stupid," said Logan. "I had to explain to them what Donald Trump was actually doing."

Logan may be Trump's biggest "little" fan. He said he wants to be a politician when he grows up and even pretends to be one now.

He attended the Trump rally in downtown Fresno with his uncle on May 27.

"He supports Trump even at his age," said Logan's uncle Zacc Autry. "He knows a lot about politics."

Logan's uncle said they took him out of school because of the controversy Thursday. He didn't think that was fair.

"They should be able to let kids freely express themselves without the fear of being beat up or harassed or bullied," said his uncle.

According to district code, hats are permitted outside of the classroom but if they become a distraction, they can ask students to not wear them.

"I still said no I am not taking it off and I said no," said Logan. "Then the principal told me to take it off but I still said no."

Logan thought the hat wasn't distracting enough to the point that he needed to take it off.

The district released a statement which said "our job as educators is to facilitate a safe learning environment where we encourage robust conversations of diverse and thoughts. We are proud that in this case, our school achieved that goal by allowing the student to wear his hat for several days. However, it is also our responsibility to take precautions when the discourse begins to impact our school climate and interrupt school operations."

The last day for the school is June 9 and Logan said he plans to keep wearing his hat.

SCHOOL BARS 9-YEAR-OLD FROM WEARING ‘MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN’ HAT

Child refused to remove hat when confronted by vice principal, principal

A school in California barred a 9-year-old child from wearing presidential candidate Donald Trump’s trademark red hat, featuring the words “Make America Great Again.”
The Powers-Ginsburg Elementary School in Fresno sent third grader Logan Autry home Thursday claiming the student’s hat – which he’d worn three days in a row – created a safety concern.
“The vice principal came up to me and told me to take my hat off because it brings negative attention from other students. And I said, ‘No,’ a few times, and then the principal told me again, and I still said, ‘No,’ and refused,” Autry told reporters.
Autry’s guardian, Angela Hoffknecht, told ABC30.com the boy has been closely following the 2016 election and is pretty knowledgeable for a kid.
“He knows more than I do,” Hoffknecht said. “He knows more about this election than I know, it’s kind of embarrassing. You know, like ‘are you smarter than a third grader’ kinda thing. But he is just very adamant about his beliefs and his rights. He wants to be a politician. That’s his goal.”
For his part, Autry – who studies politics and American history – has been touting the presumptive Republican nominee’s talking points on the playground to other children, leading to several confrontations.
“I’ve told them his policies on illegal immigration, and our Second Amendment, and our First Amendment and all of our amendments that need to be protected which are not going to be an amendment at all if Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders gets elected,” Autry described.
Autry says he obtained his $20 hat last week when he skipped school to attend a nearby Trump rally.
The boy, like many, is impressed by Trump’s rhetoric and his straight shooting: “He doesn’t speak like a politician. He speaks like a normal person. He knows what this country needs.”
The third grader says he met Trump at the rally, got his hat autographed, and even got to touch the billionaire’s hair.
“I got to shake his hand and I felt his hair too, and it’s actually real. On the TV it looks not real, but it like, has a blur but when you see it in real life it looks a lot different.”
School administrators claim they’re concerned with Autry’s safety as well as other children’s – likely an accurate assessment given the violence seen from anti-Trump protesters in recent weeks.
The boy’s guardian says she’s been trying to get Autry to wear a different hat, like one with an American flag, to no avail.

SCHOOL CALLS SHERIFF TO FORCE 7 YEAR OLD TO STOP SHARING BIBLE VERSES

PALMDALE, Calif. – Palmdale’s Desert Rose Elementary School faces potential litigation after school officials dispatched a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy to the home of a 7-year-old for sharing bible verses during non-class time.
The Liberty Council, a religious liberties and education nonprofit law firm, recently sent a letter to school officials outlining “an outrageous violation of a first grader’s constitutional rights” stemming from Bible verses his mother, Christina Zavala, packed with the boy’s lunch.
The 7-year-old shared the daily Bible verses with his classmates, and many interested students requested their own copies, which Zavala happily provided along with short Bible stories for context, the Santa Monica Observer reports.
“However, when one little girl said ‘teacher – this is the most beautiful story I’ve ever seen,’ ‘separation of church and state’ was the response, and the notes were banned from lunchtime distribution,” according to the Liberty Council. The student, identified as “C,” “was told that the school gate was the only location at which he could give the Bible verses to his friends, and only after the bell rang.”
Zavala wrote school officials April 19 to protest the decision. She contends her son was called in front of the class and reprimanded – ordered to cease discussions about religion – in retaliation.
Regardless, C complied with the school directive and distributed the daily Bible verses to his friends outside of the school gate. School officials were apparently not satisfied, and principal Melanie Pagliaro approached the student’s father outside of the school May 9. The Liberty Council contends Pagliaro ordered the boy to move off of school property for the daily ritual, which continued to attract more of his classmates.
C again complied with Pagliaro’s directive, but school officials were not content to simply chase him from campus.
“Later that day … a Los Angeles County Sheriff knocked at the door of C’s home, demanding that C’s note sharing cease altogether because ‘someone might get offended,’” the Liberty Council reports. “C’s family then asked Liberty Council to help protect their child’s constitutional freedoms.”
Liberty Council legal affairs vice president Horatio Mihet likened the ordeal to living in Communist Romania.
“I would expect something like this to happen in Communist Romania, where I went to elementary school, but cops don’t bully 7-year-olds who want to talk about Jesus in the Land of the Free,” he said.
The nonprofit sent Palmdale School District officials a 5-page letter outlining exactly how Desert Rose staff violated the student’s constitutional rights through a misunderstanding of the “separation of church and state,” as well as the district and state codes regarding solicitations and communications.
California law, Liberty Council points out, specifically states that “pupils of the public schools shall have the right to freedom of speech, including but not limited to, distribution of printed materials. Expression can only be prohibited that is obscene, libelous or slanderous, and constitute a clear and present danger of commission of unlawful acts.”
“The district simply cannot prohibit student speech during non-instructional time, where that speech is neither lewd, obscene, nor indecent. Students are allowed to discuss a variety of topics during non-instructional time, including super heroes, television and current events, extra-curricular activities, and other things of interest to the students, including religious topics,” the Council’s letter to the district read.
“The district cannot suppress and censor this discussion, or the one-page notes consisting of Bible stories and versus placed by C’s mother in C’s lunch for his own personal enjoyment and edification; which he voluntarily chose to share with his little friends during non-instructional time; which interested classmates were free to accept or refuse, at their own discretion.”
The law firm demanded that district officials respond in writing by June 1 to rescind the no religion ban, allow the student to resume sharing with his friends, and to correct the misinformation delivered to students when C was reprimanded, or face possible litigation.
“If being censured for religious expression by one’s first grade teacher in front of one’s classmates is not intimidating and humiliating enough, the message of hostility to a child’s religious expression is underscored by the district calling law enforcement for a ‘follow-up visit’ to his house,” the letter read.
School officials ignored the letter, WND reports.
A spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office claimed to be unaware that a deputy responded to the child’s home to enforce the school’s decree.
Officials with the Palmdale School District refused to comment on the case, according to the news site.
